Introduction

 Hello Readers,

This blog will document the build process of a model Battlecruiser based on some WW2 era Captial Ships such as Britain's HMS Hood, or Germany's KMS Bismarck, along with incorporating some of my own design elements, almost like an "alternate history" as if I had been a ship designer in the 1930s and 40s. I will document the build process in small steps each week, starting from building up the hull, all the way to constructing the citadel and adding small-scale details and paint.

The idea for this blog came from somewhat of an infatuation I've had recently with large capital warships of the era. Their delicate balance between their sheer size and massive firepower on the outside and their intricate and complex inner workings intrigues me deeply, and I always wished I could build something like that myself.

I figured building this model would be a great outlet for that passion, but I've also discovered a less tedious outlet, too. I recently started playing a game called "From the Depths", a naval game that lets you construct vessels as big as your computer can run without crashing, and with as much freedom as you like. The building system is incredibly complex and allows you to make anything you could dream of. I had to spend ~4 hours following along with the in-game tutorials before I could even begin to start playing

I used the "free build" mode in the game to start developing some ideas for hull shapes, gun layouts, and citadel/superstructure designs, which I'll have to flesh out further to build in real life for my model.

Unlike other model builds, which attempt to replicate existing craft exactly to scale, I'd like to have more freedom with this build, simply drawing inspiration from WW2 ships rather than exactly replicating them. I'd like this to be my own creation, something I could have actually designed had I been a ship designer in the Royal Navy or the Kriegsmarine
